Recently expanded to become the largest national park in East Africa, after Kafue National Park in Zambia, the second largest wildlife protection area in Africa, Ruaha is Tanzania’s biggest elephant sanctuary. Its name derives from the Great Ruaha River which flows along its eastern border, creating spectacular gorges. Flowing into the Rufiji River, the Great Ruaha is home to hippo and crocodile. Various antelope species, such as eland, grant’s gazelle, impala, greater and lesser kudu, reedbuck, waterbuck and the rare sable and roan antelope thrive in the grasslands bordering the river alongside buffalo, giraffe and zebra. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, both striped and spotted hyena, and wild dog – or African hunting dog as they should correctly be called.

Meet at the agreed point in Dar es salaam by Wild Drama Driver guide who will give you a short brief about your safari and depart for Selous game reserve, now known as Nyerere National Park. You will be arriving by afternoon (5-6hours drive. Drive to the lodge for check-in. Then head for short game viewing and evening discover Rufiji river by boat. You will have a sunset boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. Encounter crocodiles and hippos in good numbers. Experience more than 300 hundred species of birds recorded in this Nyerere National park. This is typical Miombo woodland, and the birdlife supported by Rufiji swampland is particular of interest. Evening return to the Lodge for dinner and much needed relaxation.

SELOUS - MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Early morning you will go out for a walking Safari in the jungle assisted by both our driver guide and an armed Park Ranger. The walking safari is for 2-3hours.
The walking safari will enable you to get closer to nature and the wild. Learn more about bush and smaller species. Experience a walking safari within such a vast and untamed area of a natural reserve. Walk in the footsteps of elephants, as well as spot giraffes in close range. You will get an opportunity to learn about things in the wild that you miss from a vehicle and the ecosystem that the animals live in. Learn to identify animal tracks, signs, and sounds. Hear fascinating information about insects, trees, and colorful bird life. After the walk, you will return to the lodge, pack your stuff and head back to Mikumi arriving in the evening.

MIKUMI - RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
Early morning game drives in Mikumi national park. The third principal park in Tanzania and is traversed through its center by the Tanzania Highway that runs between Morogoro and Iringa. The park is most excellent known for its diversity and a great quantity of wildlife. A great chance to see the Big Five. Mikumi is also an excellent birding destination with over 400 species having been recorded here.

After breakfast drive to Ruaha National Park via Iringa town. Please note that the road between Mikumi National park and Iringa Region is one of the most scenic roads in the Southern Tanzania. Proceed to Ruaha National Park which is well-known for its rare sable antelope, roan antelope, and big herds of elephants. The park symbolizes an evolution zone where eastern and southern African flora and fauna overlap. Have Lunch then an afternoon game drive. Then drive to Ruaha River lodge which is built on a rocky ridge with a stunning view of the great Ruaha river. Ruaha offers incredible game screening and the detail that the Ruaha National Park is still quite mysterious and has only just been developed for tourists makes it extra special. You can drive for hours without encountering another soul, and the peace and solitude are overwhelming.
