5Days Tanzania Safari & Walking

No matter what your arrival time at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your guide will be waiting for you with a warm welcoming smile. Kick back and relax as he takes you to the hotel in Arusha- Tanzania’s self styled safari capital. On your way to the hotel, you will get a brief impression of this bustling commercial city. Depending on your arrival time, you may have your pre-safari briefing today, if not, it will take place early tomorrow morning.

If not your arrival time yesterday allowed time for your safari briefing, then this will be done after breakfast. We will provide you with all the necessary information before we set off to our first safari destination, our two hours journey takes us westwards to Tarangire national park.  You will get to know your driver guide, amazed at his depth of knowledge as he with ease answers all your questions. Along the way, your eyes will be opened to see all the colors and nature of Tanzania. Sometimes Maasai herdsmen head their flocks of goats and cows to new pastures.

Enjoy Tarangire national park doing game drives in this huge park with its incredible diversity of massive baobab trees, big heads of elephants,s and its rolling savannah and acacia woodland.
As you stand at the park gate and look south, it stretches as far as the eyes can see. The park is also home to Buffalo, Lion, Zebras, Wildebeest, gazelle and can rival Serengeti for total animal densities. Talk to your guide to find you an Agama lizard, especially a male one who changes color in front of you according to the temperature! After time spent there in the park, we continue to the selected picnic sites where we will eat our picnic lunch which is nutritious and balanced meal.
After a day long, you will drive to the lodge for relaxation, take a drink and watch unforgettable sunset. Enjoy dinner which is fully cooked meal

First we have the excitement of spending time on a walking safari in Tarangire which is up close and personal, after the walking safari our next destination is Lake Manyara (around 2hours drive), where we will eat our lunch. Then enjoy an afternoon game drive spotting wildlife in the shadow of the rift valley escapement and spend the night.

Tarangire is a fantastic location to put down the comfort of your safari vehicle and enjoy the scenery on foot. This walking safari is accompanied by Park Ranger and expert driver guide for a safety. You will be surprised at how much more you can learn from a couple of hours walking in the bush, unfamiliar sounds and smells meeting you throughout your journey. Find out about animal tracks and dung, learn what to do if you get too close to a grazing elephant and discover who lives in those emblematic, strange-shaped termite mounds. Being this close to nature may be a whole new experience for you but the memories will stay with you forever!

Afternoon enjoy game drives in wonderful Lake Manyara with the rift valley escarpment and the lake itself as the wonderful natural backdrops. Enjoy the tranquility as majestic pink flamingos, picking out a meal of algae from the shallow alkaline waters.

While on lake Manyara terrain is compact yet boasts differing environments such as diverse forest fed by waters seeping from the nearby escarpment, hold your nose when we reach he hippo pool because these big lumps smell. Monkeys are abundant but look out too for the tree climbing lions, warthog, cape buffalo and giraffe who all call this park home

Exciting morning walking safari in beautiful Lake Manyara National Park with its dramatic escarpment, lush forest and its lake which is a place rich in wildlife. We will eat our lunch. Afternoon journey of around 1 hour will lead us north west to Ngorongoro where we will spend the night.

Morning walking safari will be accompanied by a park ranger, the walking safari gets you very quickly into the safari mood and be close to Mother’s nature. Find out wonders too small to see from a safari vehicle, feel the tension that only a walking safari can bring the desire to find large mammals conflicting with the need to stay safe. Your guide and ranger will explain much more on the field, taste a desert date which are popular snack for monkeys, exchange bird calls with the sulphur-breasted bull shrike. Make your way through the bush, may be stumbling across a giraffe chomping on high branches or a herd of elephants grazing gently. Worry not as your ranger is an expert and your safety is his major concern!
After walking safari and lunch, we set off to Ngorongoro where we will spend a night

Ngorongoro will be our final destination today
Morning you will visit the incomparable Ngorongoro crater, lunch which will be packed balanced meal, we will have a 4hours journey back to Kilimanjaro International Airport, covering the 250kms.
The stunning crater of Ngorongoro is a unique home for many species of Tanzania’s wildlife. With some luck, you may even see a black Rhinoceros here.

From our accommodation, we set off after breakfast, at 06:00am departure to reach the rim and then descend into the vast crater itself. At one side there is Lerai Forest, classic mountain forest landscape with almost tropical characteristics. This is good elephant country, so keep your eyes peeled. By the side of the nearby swampland is what is sometimes called the ‘elephant graveyard’ as the mighty male tuskers at the end of their lives come to chew on the soft, swampland grasses once their teeth have failed them.
The crater has a population of around 120 lions, with well-defined territories, up to 15,000 wildebeest and 9,000 thousand zebras, 400 hyenas, and around 50 black Rhinoceros. Many wildebeest and other herd animals are resident, benefiting from the many sources of year-round waters and are boosted by some migratory in season. Eland, Thomson gazelle and Buffalo are also present in numbers. Hippos can be seen in pools and swampland, Flamingos can frequently be seen in Lake Magadi, which occupies part of the crater floor. Highland birdlife is colorful and abundant around the waters.

You will be arriving Arusha around 16:00hrs. Drop off at Kilimanjaro international Airport for flight back home or to Zanzibar. You can simply depart on this day only if you have booked domestic flights departing JRO from 19:00hrs on wards OR International Flight departs at 20:00hrs onwards. If not, you will need to book a post night accommodation for any earlier flight.
