Usambara mountains are a part of the ancient Eastern Arc chain which mountains stretch in a broken crescent from the Taita hills in southern Kenya down to Morogoro and the southern highlands. Estimated to be 100 million years old and the rocks forming them may be 600 million years old. The mountains are home to an exceptional assortment of plants and animals. Represent one of the highest degrees of biodiversity on the continent
Wildlife includes the elegant Colobus monkey, blue monkeys and a wide variety of birds. In the rain forest euphorbias, acacias, giant ferns, palms, lobelias, camphors. (Japanese and Usumbaru) eucalyptus and fig trees are also here. Lengths of walks can be varied from just an hour or all day long, taking a packed lunch with you. also to see something of the region, it is best spend at least two nights in the area.

Meet and greet at the Hotel in Arusha by Wild Drama safari driver guide then head to Lushoto. Arriving by afternoon (4hours drive). past the magnificent Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro. You will be able to enjoy close views of Mt Kilimanjaro as you approach Moshi town, you can take photos of the mountain. You’ll drive past the Pare mountain ranges before you reach the Usambaras. Picnic lunch en route. Evening visit the Irente view point and witness a magical Sunset in the Maasai steppe, then return to the Lodge for dinner and much needed relaxation.

Breakfast, depart for Mponde tea farm. The farm Manager will introduce you to the daily activities in the farm, from tea picking at the farm to the testing level and packaging stage. On this process you may participate actively in action in some stages. You will also have an opportunity to observe how different workers perform their duties and learn something about general tea farm management.
